Kildare Athletics Centenary Celebration
– 14th November 2026

Kildare Athletics are celebrating 100 years of athletics in the county with a special Centenary Celebration on Saturday 14 November at The Westgrove Hotel, starting at 8pm.

Tickets are €80 per person, and clubs are being encouraged to put together a table of 10. (Or more if required)

It would be a lovely opportunity for current and past Clane AC members to come together and celebrate our club’s contribution to athletics in Kildare over the years.

If you would be interested in attending, please let us know, and we can see about putting a Clane AC table/table(s) together. 🧡🖤

It would be great to have a good Clane representation at what should be a really special evening!

And as you have read above, there’s another important part to the celebrations…

As part of the centenary, Kildare Athletics is compiling a historical exhibition celebrating the clubs, athletes and people who have shaped athletics in the county over the past century.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have:

📸 Old photographs
📰 Newspaper reports or cuttings
📄 Old club documents, programmes or results
🏅 Memorabilia connected with former or current Kildare athletics clubs
📚 Information or stories relating to clubs that are no longer active

Around 60 clubs have existed across Kildare over the years, with information being sought on approximately 47 former or closed clubs.

There are some fascinating pieces of local history still out there!

Any original items provided can be copied and returned to their owner, so if there’s an old athletics scrapbook, photograph album or newspaper clipping tucked away in a drawer or attic somewhere, this could be the perfect time to dig it out!

And if you or someone in your family has memories or memorabilia from athletics in Kildare over the past 100 years, let us know!
